Wild Wellness in Tulum

Wellness in Tulum doesn’t happen on a schedule. It happens in the water, in the jungle, in the quiet space between a sunrise and a swim. This weekend, Tulum celebrated being a mecca for wellness with a lineup of beautiful events and offerings. At Zamas, we’ve built a rhythm around wellness that is barefoot, unhurried, and deeply connected to the land and sea around us. Here’s what a weekend of wellness might look like when you stay with us.
Day One: Sunrise to Starlight
It starts before the world wakes up. A blazing sun breaks the horizon over the Caribbean, and the day opens with meditation and yoga — mind and body awakening in a spiritual land. Then straight into the sea for an early swim, the salt water still cool from the night.
Breakfast follows at its own pace: strong coffee laced with cacao, fresh tropical fruit, chia yogurt drizzled with miel from the Maya honeybee.

By midday, the pace shifts to a lazy float down a waterway canal once used by the Maya for trade — history moving as slowly as the current. Afternoon brings a ginger-lime spritzer in the sun, followed by a massage on a breezy, thatch-roofed, seaview porch.
As evening settles in, it’s a salty margarita — or, for the alcohol-free among us, a suero, the agave-free version. The day closes in a hammock, swinging gently while watching for turtles to hatch, or shooting stars, or nothing at all but the sky.

Day Two: Earth, Water, Stone
The second day moves closer to the earth. It opens with a bike ride and a dip in the sea, followed by a Mayan clay rubdown — the kind that leaves you physically clean and spiritually a little lighter.

From there, a brisk plunge into a cenote: a natural cold-water pool tucked into the jungle, alive with sound. A cold plunge in the truest, oldest sense — no ice machine required, just limestone, cool water, and time.
The afternoon calls for the nearby ruins — climbing to the top, feeling the scale of a civilization that came before, and the quiet reminder of how small a single weekend really is. Afterward, the body settles into a sound bath: crystal bowls, vibration, a meditative trance that feels less like a spa treatment and more like a natural high.

Always On Offer
Wellness is simply part of the natural rhythm of life at Zamas — paddle or run, swim, snorkel, or dive, aromatherapy or deep tissue massage, yoga or gym — pulsing in tune with nature in mind, body, and soul.
And when our guests want to venture further, Tulum’s wellness scene stretches well beyond our doors — sweat lodge ceremonies, open-air yoga shalas, oceanfront spas, and sound healing sessions are all within easy reach, each with its own take on ancient ritual and modern renewal. Our concierge team is always happy to make arrangements for you.
