Mayan Ruins
The Tulum ruins are very close to Zamas and are the only site built on the water. We recommend visiting very early or later in the day to avoid the sun and crowds.
The Cobá site is 45 minutes inland and is a large site with lots of vegetation. Visitors can rent bikes to explore the site on wheels (and pedicabs are available as well).
Ek Balam is a less visited site about 1.5 hours inland. You’re still allowed to scale some of the structures and several of them are still being excavated & restored.
Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities and is one of the most popular sites to visit today. It’s about a 2.5 hour drive inland from Zamas.
Punta Allen Snorkel
Enjoy a full day boat tour of the turquoise coastal waters of Sian Ka’an. It is common to see a large variety of birds as well as dolphins, crocodiles, manatees, and sea turtles.
Snorkel in the colorful coral reefs and swim alongside schools of tropical fish. Complete your day on the water by savoring a cold drink and delicious meal on the tranquil beaches of Punta Allen.
Muyil Canal Float
First you will visit ancient Mayan ruins of Muyil and if you like, climb a watchtower to capture an incredible view overlooking the jungle canopy and Muyil lagoon.
Then hop on a small boat that brings you across the lagoon to enjoy a relaxing float down a canal with natural current once used by the Maya for trade.
